We began in 2019 inspired by the vision of the late Patrick Lydon (1950 - 2022) to steward, protect and develop land for community use in the Callan area, County Kilkenny. In 2021, our mission was “To create and enable a model for stewardship and ethical investment in natural and built places to benefit inclusive and diverse ways of living, learning, working and celebrating.”

In 2025, we are evolving into a community land trust model, a viable and exciting way for us as a democratic and nonprofit organisation to provide lasting community, cultural and ecological assets and affordable community-led housing. At the heart of our work is creating inclusive, creative neighbourhoods that care for the earth and each other.

Trí Síolta, which means ‘three seeds’ in Irish, supports green-shoot activities and initiatives that have emerged from the Camphill intentional community impulse in the Callan area and furthers the vision of Patrick & Gladys Lydon.

  • Westcourt Living & Growing

Westcourt Living & Growing is a five-acre walled garden and bio-diversity site located on the outskirts of Callan. It is stewarded by Trí Síolta Community Land Trust to support diverse activities that encourage people to grow, learn, work and celebrate in harmony with nature.

  • Community-Led Housing

Trí Síolta Community Land Trust strives to support affordable, community-led housing, building on the decade of work behind the Nimble Spaces/Inclusive Neighbourhood pilot project in Callan.

Keep an eye out for an expanded website, launching in summer 2025, and for ways to become a supporter and/or member.
